Why is the product page photo an image of what looks like an Amtrak dining car?
There's the right way, the wrong way and the railway.

Clearly it's the Fernlee reservoir and not the Pacific Ocean (cough)

Peak Forest Down Sidings Lever Frame seems to throw up a 'Unable to load picture' when you click 'Ok' it does bring up the lever frame. Apart from that I'm very much enjoying this so far already in pickle with delay/failures on all while holding my little one!.

It looks like the ground frame diagram somehow got missed with the sim earlier. This should now be available

I'm so happy I had a few years of living in Bamford and I've waited years to finally see it on SimSig.
The railways around this part of the country have an interesting history.

Also interesting to see a new type of signal

I don't think I've played Crewe - interesting though.

On that note, in Hope Valley, are HG30 and NS143 missing their auto markings?

I suspect they aren't auto plated as they protect a tunnel? 143 is plated controlled. I've just checked on a cabride video - although it is in advance of Newtown Viaduct not in rear as shown on the sim. not sure what the box diagram shows.

The box diagram is the opposite of how they're plated on the ground. Both Hazel Grove and New Mills South have the auto plate on their diagram, but I believe that the auto plate was removed from the signal at some point

Automatic signals are no longer plated for new installations, since the rule allowing drivers to pass them under their own authority if unable to contact the signaller was withdrawn. NR are slowly removing them from the network when renewals occur, and they're now often not shown on new panel/control system screens, even if they're still plated as such on the signal.

Why can't I route BL01 into the Cement Works? It says "Route Not Available".

I did have to delay BL01 entering the sim for a while due to a TCF. I wonder if it a subsequent BL01 entered before the previous BL01 or something?

I don't understand what I did wrong here. Permission received and slot granted about 3 minutes before I routed into Quarry Rec.

The permission was for the Loading Line (the lower of the two), not the Rec. The shunter will ask for a line at random.

Thank you, this was also present in the Line Up and WTT editor.

I don't think it's in the manual - for clarity, what era does the sim represent?

A definite 'end date' is March 2024, when Grindleford and Totley Tunnel East closed and an Up goods loop was put in in the Grindleford area. Changes have also been made to the sidings at Buxton from what's simulated, but I don't think that's a showstopper.
Start date I'm not too sure about. The obsolete Peak District simulation had a 1987 timetable and modelled the same track layout.

Realistically anything from 1986 - 2024. Chinley was Rationalised and remodelled in 1981, Hazel Groves Chord opened 1986. The only missing infrastructure are the sidings at Grindleford which were used for wagon overflow storage for Earles and Peak Forest although that had ended by 1986.

Changes have also been made to the sidings at Buxton from what's simulated, but I don't think that's a showstopper.
Regarding the layout at Buxton, we can use it to determine an approximate era for the sim.

This image shows the (approximate) layout in 1999:
- Orange signifies the breakdown/snowplough siding.
- Green is the holding siding, complete with unknown wagon.
- Red is the run-around lines and neck.

The same view in 2005 clearly shows the two sidings have been removed.

The relief sidings were extended in 2018/2019, pretty much doubling their length, and there is no addition of extra sidings as part of that work, so that rules out 2018 onwards.

Unfortunately, Google Earth has no coverage between 1999 and 2005, so its up to anyone with local knowledge to pin down a date these were removed, but I think we can safely say the era of Hope Valley depicted in the sim is between 1986 and 2005.

Hope valley was designed to have a single broad encompassing era rather than multiple specific eras, which is why things exist like Edales DGL and single slip which are both long gone, and the additional sidings at buxton as well.

Very pleased to see this sim and looking forward to many hours on it. But I'm stumped quite early. How do I release Peak Forest Down sidings GF (PF25)? I've a train in siding 1 and a loco wanting to run round but I get Cannot release frame.

Edit: realised the problem. The wiki says that trains leaving Long Sidings at the B end need to use the GF. I interpreted leaving the sidings to include using the headshunt.
