For the second time going through CS, around 1550 on departure of 2N81 from Queen Street regardless of which platform it departs I get a track circuit showing occupied with route locked from P1 on to the UM effectively locking up half the station. I can't identify a rogue train that causes this but with 50% of Queen St out of action for the start of evening peak, it's effectively "game over".

NB: I do have a save game available about 20 - 30 mins before the bug hits, if any of the authors or techs want to review it.

Have you tried clearing the affected track circuit via the F11 menu as a workaround?
Two million people attempt to use Birmingham's magnificent rail network every year, with just over a million of them managing to get further than Smethwick.

Copy in the mail Peter, thanks.
I'll give F11 a try later, too.

Thanks for the save file NorthernWarrior, I have received it (for those wondering, I PM'ed him requesting it).

Having tested this out with the gratefully appreciated assistance of TRC666 it was found that the cause of this was 5H15 being signalled into Platform 3. This train has the following activities; DR:2N65-2 & N:2W67-2 and it is the former of those two (in Bold) that is causing the problem. When it divides it seems to effectively SPAD Signal CQ70 and this means that it occupies Track Circuit T2194 (or at least causes it to show as occupied), this occurring instantly after the "5H15 has finished dividing" message. I don't think this has anything to do with 2N81. The timetable for 5H15 shows it as booked for Platform 5 and in-fact it was early when it was just outside of GQS so it could wait for Platform 5 to become free, since 1R56 is about to depart from said platform anyway, and go in there where it doesn't cause any problems. It only seems to cause the problem when using Platform 3, none of the other platforms. Just for information, 5H15 is 138m, 2N65-2 is 92m and 2W67-2 is 46m.

I'm thinking that Platform 3 is perhaps too short to fit both trains after the divide?

Anyway, I must give a lot of the credit to TRC666 for his assistance, he ended up hosting our private test thing due to a problem at my end. Of course assuming you're reading this [TRC666] you are welcome to add any extra information or correct anything wrong I've said in this post, etc.

Thanks for the file and for the analyses above. I have not looked at it myself yet- maybe a couple of days but at least I have a head start on what to look for.

P3 is 140m

Thanks for that. Ironically I ran the save game last night and the problem didn't occur - I think I put 5H15 on Plat 2 so while it was out foul it didn't generate the rogue TC occupation.
Shall we call this one 50:50 user error (ignoring correct platforms) and an oddity in the code handling an unexpected situation?

UKTM is correct, after the divide the 2 parts move apart a little, so 2N65 fouls the throat TC. With a bit more space, it could be nudged back into the platform, but shortening a train by just 1 metre does it.

I suspect we might be talking about different problems here. If I have read NorthernWarrior's original posting correctly, there is a rogue TC flooding event which locks out the North Side of the station - I think that the 2N81 report might actually be a red herring as far as the rogue TC is concerned. Last August I had a similar event in testing when a TC on the exit from P2 flooded with no TCF message, again locking out the North Side. At the time the failure slider was set to 2 failures max and I already had 2 TCFs on the go, so the sim should not have generated it as a TCF, although the TC was clearly showing as occupied. I'm not sure if NorthernWarrior (or anyone else) has re-run the saved game from just before the fault, but I re-ran my offending game a number of times and the fault did not reproduce. In my case the problem as reported on the Bug Board but was eventually closed due to the fact that the problem could not be reproduced.

Re-running a saved game and playing with 2N81 or 2N65-2 may require some sort of remedial action or de-bugging, but I don't think that has any bearing on the original fault reported by the poster.

Using the F2 menu, you could always try reversing the offending train 2N65 back into Platform 3.

I have dug up the save file that I still have and tested your suggestion but it didn't help, after reversing 2N65 it waited for authority to proceed which I gave it and then it refused to move as there was a train (2W67-2) in-front of it.

Anyway,

seems to be the problem.

so using Platform 3 seems extremely illogical, especially as it would hit the score a bit as it isn't the booked platform.

It won't because of lack of distance between the two trains standing at P3.

Edit, replied on this:
