Timetable problem when diverting trains... 03/06/2010 at 18:07 #1327

I had a points failure at Polmont, which locked out the route via Falkirk High. Therefore, I diverted all 1Rxx trains via Falkirk Grahamston and inserted the necessary timing points.
In the case of down trains, this meant changing Falkirk High to Falkirk Grahamston, and then adding Carmuirs East, Carmuirs West and Greenhill Lower as 00/00 passing times.
When I checked the timetable of these trains later on, for some strange reasons the entry for Linlithgow had moved itself and was then situated between Greenhill Lower and Greenhill Upper, which then of course confused the stepping logic. I'm not absolutely sure, but I think this has affected all diverted trains. In any case, both trains stopping, and non-stopping at Linlithgow were affected.

Two million people attempt to use Birmingham's magnificent rail network every year, with just over a million of them managing to get further than Smethwick.

you need to give real times for key locations, to presevre the TT order.
I can only help one person a day. Today's not your day. Tomorrow doesn't look too good either.

Should be able to divert trains with no timetable amendments- is it not in the manual? Though there is one known glitch mentioned in the 'known issues'. As Andy mentions 00/00 timings can cause problems but it's with non-key locations- it maybe I have the location numbering incorrect but that's an internal thing.

you should be able to divert the train when it comes to a stop with the incorrect rought set. Then when the train phones in tell it to pass the locations specified for the diversion.

Alternatly, if you want to do it prior to the driver phoning in, then just prior to the start of the diversion set the next loc in the TT too the first place after it resumes it's booked route.

It should not phone in for valid diversions; the Sim is coded to step the timetable.

Thanks for the responses, however I didn't just want to simply divert the affected trains, which works fine for me. The problem arose because I wanted those trains to have an additional stop, while being diverted (in this case Falkirk Grahamston instead of Falkirk High). In this case, as far as I know, you have to fiddle around with the timetable and subsequently insert those additional locations.
@Andy and Peter: I've tried only one train, so I'm not absolutely sure, but entering some suitable non-00/00 timings seems to solve the problem, though it is of course a little bit more complicated.
Maybe in the future I should just ignore the passengers, and cancel the Falkirk stop altogether...

It looks like Diversions are not covered in the manual yet- but Falkirk stations are cross coded so a train booked to stop at High will stop at Grahamstone and vv without manual intervention (the timetabled location does not change, it's just recognised at the alternative).
