ITV did two series some time ago also titled 'The Tube'. It is available on DVD and is an excellent watch. Be interested to see if the BBC can tackle it in a different way.

I was interviewed/filmed working for the series, and the best information they could give was that it would probably be 6 hour-long episodes to be shown February/March next year - obviously subject to change. During filming we asked what the programme title would be, and were told that "The Tube" was a working title, and not confirmed - owing to issues with confusing it with the original series. The Tube was shown on Sky 3 some years ago. Quite interesting how they locked every thing up to run a shuttle from Stanmore.

According to Sharetv.org (which are usually quite precise about scheduling): BBC2 Episode 1: Feb 20th 9:00 PM (UK time) Episode 2: Feb 27th 9:00 PM (UK time) Any further episodes haven't yet been scheduled (at least as far as Sharetv.org. Please don't advertise torrents (RE deleted post) - I believe the only valid source is BBC iPlayer, as mentioned above. I realise it's not available for everybody but it doesn't make it right to watch pirated versions.

Just watched Episode 1 - very entertaining. Forgot about naughty links on this forum, sorry. It probably won't reach downunder for at least six months. Quote: This is a customer announcement. Geoff Whilst I agree with what you are saying it does not have to be a torrent to enable you to see it. There are plenty of VPN's out there who use a UK based server. For a small monthly subscription you can use the watch live television facility available to you boys in the UK and that is not a pirated version. Geoff Log in to reply |

(he went on to list the whole Central Line) "...East Acton, North Acton, West Acton, there's a lot of Actons, all stations..." etc etc. They don't make 'em like that any more

Incidentally there apparently seems to be a growing voice of expats who actually want to pay the license fee from abroad in order to watch BBC from abroad. On the topic of announcements, there's a comprehensive list of delay excuses on the uk.railway FAQ. Some are fairly mundane and scripted. Others include: "A remarkable lack of investment in the infrastructure of the railway system by government," "Portakabin blocking the line," "Some charlie's used an alarm handle as a coat hook" and "Train is delayed due to Madonna." Edit: I've also found a list of much more entertaining ones from the Tube/DLR (going back on topic!) on my computer. I've Googled some of them but wherever I got them from has presumably gone offline, so I've put them on Pastebin. Highlights include: "Train is currently surrounded by 35 sheep; police en route" and "Well, ladies and gentlemen, I can see a light in front of me which I think is probably Bank station, so that's good isn't it? In most of the recent pictures I've seen they've been top 'n' tailed by pairs of 20's. So maybe, once the front pair of 20's have come off to allow the new stock to be shunted into the depot, the researcher has just assumed the train has been shoved all the way from Derby?
