Would be another good "trainer" sim with short AB sections, Distants, repeaters, Staff working, Ground frames and plenty of shunting

Couple of pointers on that one. - No exit arrows are required at Rothley Sidings - the movements are signalled by the ground frame itself, not the box. - Rothley & Loughborough Frames have been drawn upside down. - You need a white warner arrow at Rothley 3, to allow the warner route from Rothley 2 to be set. -Swithland 51 signal (IIRC), is now a main aspect reading to Mountsorrel, rather than a disc, the route towards the Up LOS remains a disc. -Swithland loops are passenger rated and shouldn't be labelled Goods loops. - A white exit Triangle is needed to allow the shunt ahead route to Rothley to be utilised. Otherwise a great representation! "We don't stop camborne wednesdays" Log in to reply |

One route which I think people might hope would materialise as a sim one day is the Salisbury (Wilton Junction) to Exeter route. Some members would, I think, prefer it done in an era when the boxes were open, others might prefer the layout of such a sim to be modelled on the panel in Basingstoke ASC from where the line has been controlled since mid-2012. Whichever you might prefer I decided to take the photos available online at https://photos.signalling.org/index?/category/31-west_of_england_panel and convert them into something which resembles how a SimSig layout of the route might look. The fringe for Yeovil Pen Mill is a slightly tricky one: the question is whether the mechanically-signalled layout at Yeovil Pen Mill (inclusion of which would not only facilitate a chain to Westbury on the line between Yeovil Pen Mill and Castle Cary but would also facilitate a chain to Dorchester South should that be covered at some point in the future) is added as an extension of Westbury sim as an update, or whether it would somehow be incorporated into any sim for the Salisbury to Exeter route. Anyway the resulting effort is attached: thoughts welcome. HTIOI, Dave Post has attachments. Log in to view them. That WoE looks ace! I've been at work starting on a NE (Bowesfield) Sim, including the boxes: Low Gates Urlay Nook Bowesfield Norton East Norton West Norton South Norton Station Billingham Belasis Lane Greatham & Ryhope Grange I'm only at Norton station so far but with divert TTs this would make an interesting sim Post has attachments. That looks great. I do hope that this area can be turned into a sim sooner or later. Can remember lots of years ago standing on Eaglescliffe station on a morning waiting for the DMU from Darlington to arrive to take me into work in Middlesbrough. The coastal portion of the sleeper from Kings Cross to Newcastle often broke the monotony passing through at the same time. Usually with a Peak of Whistler on the front of maybe three coaches. Now that’s showing my age big time but those were the days when it was fun standing on Platforms and nobody questioned what you were doing. Geoff Log in to reply |

Yeah i do, there is so much variety in both passenger & freight workings, with northern, TPE the GC sets plus mountains of freight and the mix of AB & TCB would be a fun challenge too. would also make a nice chaining group with York / Tyneside IECC and this, would link a lot of stuff together Plus there are multiple eras too, with the various changes that've taken place Resident Mock Maker! / "The Out Of Control Host" Last edited: 29/03/2021 at 16:15 by elltrain3 Reason: None given Log in to reply |

elltrain3 in post 138219 said:That WoE looks ace! Thanks for the comment: glad you like it. Did it with an unofficial layout creating tool of which the creator was himself a SimSig player although I don't think he now is. It is good fun to use but you can't build playable sims with it for distribution. I draw the layouts using that software and then put the colour in using MS Paint. Yours is looking good so far and I look forward to the end result. Dave Log in to reply |

You don't have to wait long! Here is the completed Bowesfield sim (not sure as to a "proper" name) Including: Urlay Nook SB (Darlington - Eaglescliffe) Low Gates SB (Northallaton - Eaglescliffe) Bowsfield (Eaglescliffe - Middlebourgh Fringe & Norton Sth) Norton South Norton East Norton West Ferryhill (only had 3 signals :/) Norton Stn Billingham Stn Belasis Lane Greatham and Ryhope Grange (VDU & Frame) the layout is a tricky one and the blank spaces are VERY annoying! but its just a mock up! Hope you enjoy! Post has attachments. Log in to view them. Resident Mock Maker! / "The Out Of Control Host" Log in to reply |

Following a nice gift of some software, I've had a crack at a standalone sim.........Selby! only a small sim but very complex fringes to York in 3 Places! 3 gate boxes & a swing bridge! all with numerous Slotting arrangements PLUS numerous crossings and sidings throughout the sim it would make a cool standalone one, especially with a TT from when the bridge closed for a refurb Post has attachments. xD i'll have a go next if I find a good source! i'm working on Colchester PSB (or GE OUTER) with Clacton, Walton, Felixstowe & Norwich branches included (Hawrich is under the control of Parkeston S.B. - a separate sim) its a good area and would make good sim material! A little post-midnight treat here is the first draft of a Colchester PSB Sim which will cover the ENTIRE area covered by Colchester PSB/ASC Currently has Cokchester Stn Panel which might be difficult in bus times and was a fun layout to draw! Also on a separate row is Eastgate/Thorpe-Le-Soken panels (inside a VDU At Colchester PSB) with LOTS of mcb-cctv crossings to keep an eye on! then finally we have the quaint and recently closed Clacton-On-Sea SB with its unique searchlights and semaphores under the wires, which I've done my best to represent! Yeah, and being its a separate SB thought it'd make sense to make a separate sim through might add it in if i get time! as the sim is gonna be rather large by the time i reach nowrich

So after a lot of making and multiple headaches here is a banavie/West Highland sim, from the fringe to Yoker to Oban, Fort William & Mallaig, all Radio-Electric-Token-Block (RETB) apart from fort William station which is worked from Mallaig junction SB under a frame/panel hope people like the end result was interesting making it, though very repetitive, all just passing loops with a siding Post has attachments. High Balernock not ‘Balemock’. Bridge of Orchy has a typo, also Glen Douglas isn’t a dead end, it goes into the MoD exchange sidings.
