As an exciting next step to improve users' experiences, we're looking for two volunteers to help us go through the 900+ user-submitted files to determine which ones are suitable for Loader integration. That is, instead of downloading files from the website and installing them yourself, you'll be able to select which user submissions you'd like to download and it will install them in the right place automatically. Initially this will only be timetables, which make up the vast majority of the submissions anyway. As I said above, there are over 900 files to go through. Things we need to check are: Is the submission a single timetable? Is it in the current zipped XML format? Is the version number correct (important for updates)? Does it load okay if we download and test it? Note that we are NOT testing the timetables themselves! While initially we have to verify all these files, and thus have a fair bit of work to do at the start, once finished it will die down and only need attention for 2-5 submissions a week typically. What's in it for you? While you are onboard the moderation team, you will have access to all published simulations, whether you have a license or not. Who are we looking for? Users who have a presence on the forum, who can devote a few hours initially, then a few minutes a week thereafter. We don't want users who submit a number of files themselves, or who regularly test others' submissions, as that creates a bit of a conflict of interest (an occasional submission is fine). Please reply to this thread if you're interested, and give us a sentence describing why we should pick you. I would love to assist with this. I have been around a while now and I feel like I know enough to be able to give something back to the community. I do also have the required free time to properly do this justice. Last edited: 19/08/2023 at 08:13 by eps125 Reason: None given Log in to reply |

I’ll be more than happy to help and assist with going through the many timetables. I’ve been around since 2012 and pretty much know the ins and outs of SimSig. I spend on average 8-10 hours per day building & testing my own timetables. There are a mix (70/30) between myself and the ones I upload on here. I have done bug finding & testing on a certain simulation a while back and know what look for also within timetables. With myself in recovery I believe I’ll be a perfect person to dedicate most of if not all my time towards this. Aaron (AJRO) | Timetable Writer Log in to reply |

I would like to assist with timetable Loader integration. I’ve been playing SimSig since 2011 I pretty much know most of the Simsig simulations I can put most of my time to this. I am dyslexic so please consider this when reading my posts Last edited: 19/08/2023 at 10:32 by tjfrancis Reason: None given Log in to reply |

after playing SimSig for a few years now and going through the pain of downloading TTs for the first time I'd love to help improve this! (doing user ability testing with a publisher so should be able to use my knowledge from that!)

I’d love to help out! Been enjoying SimSig for a few years and I spend too much time experimenting with timetables so I feel I could be of good help Log in to reply |

I would love to assist with this Geoff. I have been around for over 4 years now. I am active regularly on the forums and Teamspeak and I am a keen and fast learner and would love to be able to help in any way possible. Thanks for the opportunity. I would like to put myself forward for this Geoff. I have been with SimSig since 2017 and have done several timeatables myself, and as a retired railwayman of 46 years, I have spare time to devote to helping out. Phil Log in to reply |

Thanks for the interest so far. We'll leave this open for a few more days but we do have a couple in mind that have posted so far.

An amount of this work is not dissimilar to the (PHP+BASH) code at the head of my TT dumping tool. Happy to share over PM if you want to adapt & integrate it as a pre-moderation indicator. Thanks Jamie Jamie S (JAMS) Log in to reply |

Hi Geoff. I can also throw my hat in the ring for this if you need any help. Although you don’t see much from me on the forums or group sessions, I prefer to operate the sims solo. Being semi retired I generally find at least an hour a day for SimSigging, and with my 10 years as a member of this group I am well versed in the operation and control of the larger sims. Thanks for the opportunity - I’m happy to help if you need my assistance. Log in to reply |
