This Sim is going to take a bit of time to absorb Peter!
I have 1B16 at Dalmeny up yard ready to leave. I have set points UF - UFL normal, the GF is flashing "F" (presumably free) and a shunt signal EYGF1 has appeared. I cannot seem to set route out of the yard using this signal. What do I need to do?

Read the manual from where there is a link to the WIKI explaining GFs.

When the F is flashing, go to the menu and click Show > Lever Frames > Dalmeny up GF. A new window will open with 4 levers. Move lever 1 all the way down to unlock the frame. Move lever 2 all the way down to set the points then move lever 4 all the way down to release the signal. The train will then emerge onto the UPL. Set signal EY656 to the desired route and off it goes. Once the train is clear of the frame area move levers 4, 2 & 1 up (in that order) and right click the F to allow normal running again. You can then close the lever frame window.

Hope this helps a bit, it took a bit of figuring out but once you know it is not too bad to get to grips with.

Cheers

You need to click on the 'Show' menu option, then select the 'Lever Frames' option from the drop-down menu that appears, and then select the appropriate GF from the list. There will then appear a small 'window' box with a depiction of several differently coloured 'levers'.

First 'operate' the King release 'lever' coloured blue/brown to release the other 'levers' for use. Then 'operate' the black point 'lever' to alter the point onto the main line, and then 'operate' the appropriate red coloured 'lever' for whichever signals aspect you wish to change.

If you mouse-over the 'levers' you will see a 'tooltip' saying what that particular 'lever' is for. After the train is clear of the points replace the levers in the reverse direction to which you 'pulled' them. I.e. signal back first, then point, then release 'lever'. You can then close the 'window' box by clicking on the red X button as per normal, and then right click on the F button to put the groundframe back into 'Normal' mode. I hope that helps you pilotman.

Regards, Woodhead Sig.

Thanks Flymo for the explanation. It's working OK now - just like Sheffield Park GF in fact.!! Are these actually lever operated in the field - most GF's seem to be switch operated these days.

Yes, both Dalmeny ones are levers.
The up one is in the relevant splash screen actually, but to be honest barely visible even on the original image let alone the 320x240 version
Down and up visible in a better res image:

There is coding to allow different sorts of display but that's still in development.
