This Simulation works well. However, the ARS may have been based on the UK method of Signalling. That is, the ARS will not set Routes beyond the Platform Starting Signal until the Departure time is reached, for example Redfern and Central. In reality, or in real life, the Route continues to be set, if no conflicts are found, irrespective of departure time. This means the Driver should only see Green Signals under normal circumstances. If the Driver faces a Caution and then a Low Speed Signal indication, he must reduce his speed accordingly for the Trip Arm at the Signal to lower, which in turn could result in loss of Timetable time. Was this considered, or can this be considered in a future update ? Thank you for any advice. Last edited: 03/01/2025 at 12:01 by Scott4570 Reason: None given Log in to reply |

Hello Scott4570 The behaviour of the ARS at Redfern, Central and a couple of other locations was deliberately constrained. We found during testing that when trains were getting greens as soon as possible, ARS was making some errors when trains are close to one another, such as during peaks, or post-peak when Eveleigh-bound trains are trying to cross to the Down Illawarra ex Central for example. ARS is a great tool, but Sydney's tight junctions and 2-3 signal overlaps can confuse it. These constraints are designed to minimise the chance that ARS knots up a junction. You can get around the constraints if you wish - The only signal that waits for booked time is the signal that authorises departure from a platform. For example at 18/19 the only signal that waits booked time is SY381/SY383. If you set this signal yourself ahead of time, or even place it into auto, the other signals will set in time to show the driver two greens. Hope you are enjoying the sim! Log in to reply |

Good Morning flabberdacks. Thank you for explaining that detail and for suggesting the workaround. Enjoying all of the simulations, they come so close to the real thing. Last edited: Yesterday at 12:58 by Scott4570 Reason: None given Log in to reply The following user said thank you: flabberdacks |
