I've had this train stabled in PC1 (whatever that means) for a while and I can't get the daft bugger to move, :mad:

What routes do I need to use? I've tried giving one route but it goes mad saying I've given a wrong route to the driver or it just sits there at the signal and refuses to move, now looking at a 17 minute late departure in the evening peak as well!

What am I supposed to do with this bugger, it's a Class 322 I think - the siding should be electrified as it went in with no problems, the driver's just gone on strike!!!

The problem may be answered in the Wiki at http://www.SimSig.co.uk/dokuwiki/doku.php?id=usertrack:mans:edindutys . I'm not sure whether it will solve your problem, but the Duty Signaller on Duty 2 has to manually swing the points so that the outward route is correctly set before trains can leave PC 1/2 and MR 1/2.

If that's not the problem, I hope someone else has a better answer!

Parcels platform (MR= Motorail)

There are no 'invalid routes' coded from that platform so quite how you are getting that message I don't know.

How do you manually swing the points, does it involve the new feature of the ground frames?

Well that shunt signal at the end of the PC1/2 platforms is lit white meaning I've set a route but the driver reports he's stopped at a red.

Hence why it was confusing me...

Will try sometime later and see if I can get the bugger to move.

How do you manually swing the points, does it involve the new feature of the ground frames?
It was all written up in the dim distant past and included in the Help File (at http://www.SimSig.co.uk/index.php?option=com_remository&Itemid=56&func=select&id=4 ) and will hopefully be copied over to the Wiki when someone has enough energy to do it. The relevant section is:

"Manually swinging and locking points
There may be times when you want to swing a set of points or to lock them, such as to prevent ARS from setting a route, for selecting a non-preferred route, or for engineering purposes.

Most point symbols are oriented so that 'normal' is the horizontal position and 'reverse' is the diagonal position. However, because of display constraints, some points are the other way around. Such points may be highlighted in the accompanying simulation information.

To lock points normal, left click on the points symbol. If the points are already in the normal position then the background will change yellow. If the points are reverse and are free to move normal, then the background will change yellow but the symbol itself will flash until the points are detected in the normal position. If the points are locked reverse, then the background will change to a flashing yellow and the points will not be moved. The points must be unlocked and re-locked if they later become free to move and you still want them moved.

To lock points reverse, the same principle as above follows, except that the right mouse button should be used instead

To unlock points, use either the left or the right (it doesn't matter which) mouse button on the points symbol. The yellow background will be replaced by the background of the surrounding track (normally black but see below)."

In the later sims, the colours have changed and the point itself is coloured blue on the diagram rather than having a yellow background when it has been manually swung but the principles are the same.

As well as the displayed shunt signal there is a hidden signal which will only come off if the points are in the right orientation.

I had the same problem and came to the conclusion that 5Y02-1 doesn't like PC1!! (or the other way round)

It's important that 5Y02-1 runs to Slateford as there is a timetable rule in force which tells the next train it forms to leave x minutes after 5Y02-1 arrives. If it doesn't arrive (and therefore trigger the next departure) you lose all your evening trains to and from North Berwick.

This is what I did as a work around.

Open the timetable editor and scroll down to 5Y07 (the train which becomes 5Y02-1)
Edit the final destination from PC1 to MR2
Scroll back up to 5Y02-1 and edit the starting point from PC1 to MR2

Job done. 5Y07 will now merrily go to MR2 and change identity to 5Y02-1!

However, the (electronic) shunter in the Motorail sidings has not been trained to use the phone to tell you the train is ready to leave and ARS doesn't work on a train due to leave, so you'll need to pop on a sticky note to remind you that it's a 16.45 departure so you can manually signal it out.

I have done several hundred hours on the Edinburgh sim (I did more time than I care to think about during beta testing) and never had a problem with 5Y02-1 - apart from forgetting it was a 16:45 departure! There was also no need to manually reverse the train.

I suspect that there is something not being set correctly in order for the train to depart PC1. Before any train will depart from PC1, you have to confirm that points PPC (the points which control the entry/exit to PC1 and PC2) are locked in the normal (straight-ahead) position and that the route is set from signal E428 - to E426 for trains going forward towards Craigentinny or to the white triangle beside E426 for trains reversing and going back towards the North.

If these conditions have been met, then that indicates a bug which should be reported so that Peter can investigate. Can anyone report whether they are still having problems with this train and if so, could they also post a saved game (with the route set but the train not departing) so that the problem can be investigated.

Possibility that the train is in PC2 when you think it's in PC1, or vice versa. (what does F2 Train list show?)
I can only help one person a day. Today's not your day. Tomorrow doesn't look too good either.

The message I got was "train stopped at signal PC1" points lay correctly (I swung them and swung them back again to make sure)

PC2 did not seem to have the same problem as the 13.41 departure left as good as gold.

I've just run this test TT with ARS on and off and in both cases it worked as it should. Can you try it on yours and let me know what happens.

Very strange. If it is still happening on your set-up, can you post a saved game with 5Y02-1 stopped at PC-1 in case anyone else can track down the bug.
