Finally, it’s here! After a long wait version 5 of the SimSig loader is now released! All the information you need is contained in this post; should you have any questions please post them in below and we will either update the document or answer below. We have tested this relentlessly for months but even the most stringent testing will miss something so obvious, however we hope we covered everything. It is however really important you follow the instructions in the document: any deviations and it may not work for you and it will take us some time to reset everything. Updates to Existing Sims - when you download the new loader you will have a number of updates which will follow 41 sim updates 56 timetable updates Please be patient, the demand for updates at the time of release will be high and it may take longer than you normally expect. Next week we will also be releasing some new sims, and to mark the cancelled Edinburgh meet there is a monster chain planned for Saturday 4th July. Now we are on version 5 we can return to a more normal release program so expect further releases later this year. Right then, if you open up your loader and press "Check for updates", you should get loader 5.2 when it starts up again it will offer you the upgrade wizard :) (Would be good if you could let us know if it works) For those who are reading this from now, you'll get loader 5.2 straight from 4.15.1 and the upgrade wizard should run straight away. Can we please have an option to get the new fonts back? As some one with not so great vision the new font is very soft and hard to read. The width seems very narrow and intercharacter spacing (kerning) isn't very good. (Pl looks almost like an H, for insstance).

I really dislike the new "toolbar". Sad to see that Simsig has fallen into the cult of the hamburger menu. BRING BACK REAL MENUS!!!!

Is there an option to rollback? I much prefer v4 and would rather just stick with the latest v4 version of sims. I don't play multiplayer. Log in to reply |

Gents, once again can I just ask you to bear with us while we sort out the minor issue with the upgrade wizard. As much as we want the release to go smoothly, there are always things that crop up when we go public. We're all busy in the background and I'll make sure we are posting updates here. For reference, you don't need to login to the old license manager with Loader V5, it's obsolete and is built into the new loader. Right then, if you run the upgrade wizard now on loader V5.2, it should correctly transition all of the licenses. Just a quick reminder you don't want to use the old standalone license manager anymore, it's obsolete with Loader V5. I sufferd from an issue with he license wizard failing when I ran it (though it was a 5.1 version at the time so maybe the fix already got into 5.2 for all I know). Stupidly I didn't screenshot the error message, though I'm not certain if the words "error 2" is likely to mean much anyway. Moderator redacted a section as the work around is no longer required As for the many sims appearing to repeatedly update, perhaps the system could be clearer about the update process reaching the remove redundant files state, as there is no intuitive indication that you need to scroll back many lines through the log to find the instruction that you should use the button so I see why people assumed the update had paused (the first few times I just took the fact that the close button was responsive to indicate the update had completed without me even noticing the remove obsolete files button), but once I realised that it was wanting to delete files which had been obsoleted by differently names multi-seed versions of the same tt and I then used the button everything now seems to be working. To get the wizard to run again I opened up the old license manager then quit it then ran the loader. Start the loader up from fresh and follow the update wizard through. Still not working for me - I don't know if its because when I first upgraded I got my password wrong so I got error 2 - yet it still did the Loader and sims upgrade
